1. After watching Spain win the (very scoreless) World Cup final, we ran over to catch Xiu Xiu and Deerhoof play Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures at Jelly NYC’s first Pool Party of the year.  Lines were short, the food got better (Roberta’s and Meat Hook!) and we couldn’t ask for a better combo to play the classic Joy Division album.  Xiu Xiu’s haunted vocals blended perfectly with Deerhoof’s guitars.
