1. Pharoahe Monch at Summerstage 2010

Pharoahe Monch, one of our favorite lyricists, is playing a free show at Queensbridge Park on Wednesday 07/21 as part of Summerstage 2010. You may remember him from his stint with Prince Po as Organized Konfusion or his 1999 hit Simon Says.

  2. Tame Impala at Glasslands

Tame Impala tore through a 50 minute set of their infectious psych rock at Glasslands last night to finish their string of NYC dates. They were surprisingly young and we were impressed with their tight set with a few extended jams.  They can easily fill a larger venue and we imagine we’re not going to be able to see them in such an intimate venue for a while.

  4. Caribou at Music Hall of Williamsburg 5/7/2010

One of my favorite live bands, Caribou has a strong focus on percussion with the right mix of samples and live instrumentation. You never feel like they are playing to a backing track with samples leading the way.
