Twist (Barry McGee) and Amaze repainted the mural on Houston formerly occupied by Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, and a Keith Haring memorial. The wall goes full circle from fine art back to straight up graffiti, giving nods and shout outs to a huge roll call of graffiti writers. Twist and Amaze painted a similar shout out wall at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego earlier this year. The Museum’s staff were out with 30 gallons of paint to buff the tag wall the next day.
The noise and energy Twist and Amaze’s Downtown bombing stirred up during the late ’90s was amazing. We hope to see new street work from them outside of the legal walls.
